The elections are being contested by the opposition party in Ghanaian courts. However, international observers consider the elections to be free and fair.
Protests do not necessarily mean a country is going to spiral into all out civil war. I'm in DC, and there are protests quite frequently, none of which have led to the downfall of our democracy. In fact, protests often don't occur in tightly controlled regimes because the government brutally puts them down. Protesting is an exercise in civil liberty. People in Ghana don't fear their government killing them for speaking out against certain policies... That's a GOOD thing for democracy, not a first step to civil war or general unrest.
Ghana's size has nothing to do with it. However, Ghana is about the size of the United Kingdom, a bit smaller than the state of Oregon, quite larger than the state of Rhode Island. It also has a population of about 26 million.
Freedom House, an independent democracy monitoring think-tank, does rankings every year of all the world's countries. They measure democracy in terms of political rights and civil liberties. They also report on how free the press is within each of these countries. Ghana's 2013 ranking: a 1 for political rights and a 2 for civil liberties. This is on a scale of 1-7, where 1 is the most free and 7 the least. Here's a link to their report, it's arranged alphabetically, and you can clearly see that Ghana fared better than Greece who got a 2,2 scoring. http://www.freedomhouse.org/sites/defaul...0Web_1.pdf
Ghana's press was also declared free by Freedom House, thus making Ghana a very good example of freedom and democracy on the continent.

P.S. It is clear to me that you either A: don't know anything about what you are attempting to discuss or B: are trolling. It is not possible to engage in a rational discussion where one party wildly misconstrues basic facts (ie: Ghana being at civil war because there was a riot or protests, Ghana being the size of Rhode Island, Ghana bordering Mali, etc.). Either make assertions, with viable evidence to back them up, or I'm not going to engage with this anymore.

okay i see.... so stating that Kenya is model for africa without a mention about their war crimes was about "freedom" you right wingers always going on about freedom, free to die, free to be poor, free to be homeless, free to have your home bulldozed, meanwhile kenya ranks 145 in the human development index meanwhile the seychelles has a higher index than many countries in europe libya, algeria and tunisia (even though their filled with a bunch left wing hippies) all outrank ghana and south africa and especially kenya..... but you must be rating these countries by those that allow foreign coporations too exploit their citizens "the most freely"

Frankly, wherever you're getting your information from, I seriously question it's validity. If a news source is getting such basic facts wrong, it calls into question all aspects of their reporting. I have fully disproven everything you've said about Ghana. I don't feel like fact checking everything you say about another country.
You are changing the subject to Kenya-without admitting you are wrong about Ghana Dodgy I don't want to get involved in a discussion with someone who doesn't know what they are talking about and has such obviously bad sources of information. It's not fun to simply be a fact checker/corrector when I would prefer to have a discussion, which isn't possible with you on this topic. See the last two pages of this thread.
Good day to you, sir.

But you've said, repeatedly, "Anything goes in life." "There are no morals." So why are these people who are killing and raping "inhuman?" They're just pursuing their own desires, and you believe it's a-okay to "destroy" others in the pursuit of one's happiness. Though I do find it interesting that you seem to draw a line somewhere. I would have thought you'd be applauding them for not caving or adhering to traditional views of morality.

But I am curious as to where your line is. What specifically about these actions crosses your moral boundary into the realm of inhumane? For instance if they were just killing and not raping would that be inhuman? Or vice versa? Or is it their motivations that strip them of their humanity in your opinion?
