Christianity is also a life of trust, at least till someone shows us different. Monitoring those priest that are not involved in such evil would go against trust, I do agree the church needs to be more aggressive in rooting out priest that commit such evil. They should bring things to light and see these priest are brought to trial and done away with.
Pedophiles care nothing about being married, at least most do not and like I said more eyes on a problem the sooner it is remedied. Married priest could provide those eyes, one thing I know God will deal with these evil priest and those who covered it up. Evil will be with us till the end of time and we as responsible humans need to fight against it, evil is a problem that effect all and we as a society need to be ware of it and deal with it.

I would go out on a limb and say that the vast majority of pedophiles do, in fact, get married and have children of their own. I would also say that most are interested in sex with both children AND adults. If you think those who abuse children are those who are strictly interested in sex with children, you are badly deluded. Further, I will personally guarantee that you know someone who is a pedophile. You probably don't know it, and you will probably never find out. Pedophilia is as common and widespread as homosexuality and is found in every race, color, and creed as well as every financial, marital and social class.

Marriage will do nothing to quell the problems within your precious church. The problem with your church is your church. It is an institution that holds itself above the law. No institution is above the law.

Bellevue is no longer associated with the Baptist, and I do not belong to the Warren Community Church either, get your facts straight. I know that pedophiles are operating in the Protestant churches, I've seen where they've been prosecuted. You very seldom hear of a cover up by the Protestant denominations. Besides most pedophiles operate in the non Christian world, especially the sickest killers of children, they know missing children in the church would bring on an investigation in which they could be exposed. Secrecy is their domain and in the non christian world they can operate with less fear of being caught.

The reason I have you on ignore and seldom read your post is because you are an irresponsible person and, in this instant one who cares nothing for these children, all you care about is running down Christians.

Yes, I said that most pedophiles do not marry and thus allowing the priest to marry would help in lowering the number of pedophiles but, not all of them into the priesthood. Thus lowering greatly the number of incidents of child molestation in the Catholic Church. Now are you still with me or are you still lost, if lost at this point you should just give up there's no hope for you.
Most of those 260 cases are committed by single men, and I know you brought up the 260 as a way to run down the protestant churches.
Let's deal with some numbers here, 400,000-260=399,740, that 399,740 is the number of pedophiles that are not in the protestant churches. You see the Justice Department of the United States estimates there are currently 400,000 pedophiles in the US. So what is the world outside the protestant church doing to lower the number of children molested by pedophiles, we turn them over to the proper authorities to be punished.
Now if only 10% of those pedophiles are active at any one time, and with each molesting 50 children each (which is below the Justice Departments estimation of 150 each) there would be 1,987,000 children molested by these evil people. So before you go running that irresponsible mouth of your's just to run down the Christians, you should try and remember these numbers before your eyes and think of them.

here is this church, Warren Community Church, which is really a Baptist church. But, not unlike Amway, which has had to change it’s name in order to outrun its reputation, some Baptist churches are leaving the word “Baptist” out of their church name, perhaps for similar reasons.

You can change the name but the smell remains the same.

Preposterous! I stated plainly that this was not a religious issue, yet I am accused of running down Christians.

You then have the audacity to suggest that I care nothing about these children, when my contribution to this thread has been to dispel myths that obfuscate the real issue. One myth is the idea that married people, priests or not, don't sexually abuse children. If anything, I can make the argument that those that so trivially offer a solution consisting of nothing more than Catholic priests being allowed to marry are ones that don't care about sexually abused children.

@ Min, Would you like me to look up the number of sexual predators that do not belong to any church and in fact claim there's no god. I actually do not know what your point is, I said there were pedophiles in the protestant churches, their everywhere. If everyone would become discussed with this people, who seem not to be curable of their evil, and join in an outcry to our justice system to put these evil people away forever or put to death in the extreme cases, we would rid ourselves of this vile people. Think, just think of the millions of children that would not have to suffer through such abuse. I mean really Min, why should we be fighting against each other when the innocent could use our energy, just tell me why?
