Have you not read revelations? It's not really a party inspiring book.

The worship of self through education has become the new religion. The only thing that has changed are the terms in which you identify your new 'god'.

Nope, I do not hold any supreme being over me or others. Nature is nature, and I just marvel at the wonders of the universe. We all live once, and we should all enjoy it.

Not the point I was going for, really. What I was trying to get across is that, to the believer - and I so wanted to type 'belieber' there, please shoot me - anyway to them, all of this is supposed to signify the return of their messiah figure in all its gory glory. If it was me, I might be tempted to think this is A Good Thing.

Incidentally, it's Revelation, not revelations, from the Koine Greek apokalypsis. More popularly if not accurately, The Book of The Revelation of Saint John the Divine. Yes I have read it.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

It may not inspire a party, but John of Patmos was certainly on a serious acid trip.

Perhaps you just doesn't know the right partygoers?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Big Grin
In the religion of Education, one is 'taught' how to evelate himself up as a 'god.' So he no longer has to kneel before any other God/gods other than the gods that bring him his education.. And as they only want money, and not the aliegeance of his soul, that leaves him free to do as he wills. (with in soceital norms of course.)

The second comming is joyous only because of the contrast of the wickness and depraveity this world must first be subject to. Most do not look forward to the Hell on Earth that must first happen.

Is anyone else surprised to see that Drich has invented a story about what education is, and that the story told is precisely the kind of story that one might expect to see coming from a narrator who had never witnessed any education in the first place? It even has gods in it, which is- frankly, a wonderful twist.

Education is whatever the soceity deems it to be. If one is in a 'good' soceity then education will be good. If one is in a not so good soceity like say a Nazi soceity the output of 'educated men' will be not so good.

The worship of education is what I was speaking to which historically never good, as it makes men into self dilluted gods. Education in of itself control. Soceital control over it's people. Sometimes it is for the good of the people and other times it is not. One thing History shows is those in a given soceity are seldomly able to judge whether their 'educations' are "good" or not.

I bloody wish Christianity was in the past. It's June now, which means we have about 2 months left before Christmas fucking starts again and dominates the rest of the year.

Islam is on the rise because of a) Immigration, and b) The decline of Christianity. Immigrants tend to be more actively religious because it's a way to hang around with people they have something in common with. I have seen that used as an explanation for the high levels of extreme religiousity in parts of the USA today.
I also cite the decline of Christianity as a cause because as people realise their religion is a load of bullshit, they will often try out another religion before they notice that that religion is also a load of bullshit and ultimately give up on religion altogether. Islam isn't all that different from Christianity, so it is a logical stepping stone away from Christianity that will not completely remove them from their comfort zone.

In my experience, most atheists tried out at least one other religion before depating from the religion they were raised in, if they had one.

Really? It was the definitive Nazi society that proced men like Wernher von Braun, paving the way to the modern space age, communication satellites and the like.
