I went to Bahrain a couple times when I was in the military and saw a lot of women dressed like that. There was a woman begging for change in the same get up you saw. The only skin you could see was her hand.
I think it's a deplorable way to treat women.

I went to India and saw many women in burkas... but their burkas were like bedazzled and shit. o_O

You know this is also a cultural thing. My grandparents have the youth group from a Vietnamese church over to swim every summer. The girls and guy go separate, and if there are any girls with the boys they stay completely clothed even if they get in the water. When the girls come over the youth pastor and my grandpa stay in the front yard. It's not the same as a berka, but it's similar.

I think I've said on here before that I wandered onto an Orthodox Jew forum and saw them discussing whether or not it was okay to uncover their hair to swim in an all-women's indoor (thus shielded from outside eyes) pool.
Repressed people are fucking weird. I can barely be arsed to put on clothes in my condo, and we have a full window wall.
