Jackson had no trouble including dead end characters - Legolas, Boromir, Pippin, Butterbur. A character as crucial to the Quest as Bombadil merits inclusion at least as much as those. Boru

I don't agree, I remember wondering why he was in there at all. I thought it was a pet project of some sort.
I had a crush on Bombadil when I first read of him in the book.

Given Bombadil’s immense power, it lends credence to the notion that he took part (a crucial part) in the downfall of Sauron. Boru
