I just went to watch "The Festival" at the cinema.

I'd give it an 7 or 8 out of 10.

There were some good laughs, sometimes it's weird watching a comedy film in a cinema because I'm concious that I'll find something funny that no one else does and erupt in some awkward solo laughter, I feel just slightly self conscious.

I don't think it's as funny as the inbetweener films which I liked a lot.

I was really surprised to find out the main actor is 34 years old.  That means he acted in the inbetweeners as a school boy when he was around 26.  He looked closer to his actual age in this film.

Cast A Deadly Spell

In 1948 Los Angeles, private detective H.P. Lovecraft (Fred Ward) gets involved with a crime figure (Clancy Brown), a millionaire (David Warner) and a torch singer (Julianne Moore, who should have known better), all of whom are trying to recover the Necronomicon in order to bring back Yog Sothoth and the rest of the Old Ones.

It is hard to find words to describe just how bad this film is, but I'll give it a go:

Drab, awful, excruciating, abysmal, dreadful, tormenting, grievous, laborious, unpleasant, tedious, and noxious. 

But maybe I'm being too harsh.  The film isn't all bad, just the premise, the writing, the acting, the special effects, the cinematography, the directing, and the plot holes you could drive an articulated lorry through.  The rest of it's aces.
