This is weird. The Henry Sugar film is on My List, and I rewatched part of Everything on Friday. So I'm in the middle of that.

I believe Laundry & Taxes would have been a more fitting title for the movie.

I watched about an hour of "About Last Night" 1986 based on David Mamet's play, and it's awful. The most interesting thing is how Demi Moore's boobs were much smaller than 10 years later when she made Striptease. I kind of remember it was a big deal that they paid her a lot of money in 1996 to show her boobs, and yet there is this movie where she has much more topless and nude scenes and no one cares. I guess it's because her boobs did not yet reach the fullness and roundness that they had in Striptease.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
