The Last Movie You Watched

Shamalalalalalala's "The Last Airbender", I thought I would give it a go. Fuck. What a mistake. I made it only until Zuko was shown for the first time, but boy was I disappointed. In those few minutes I had a myriad of problems, that fucked up the experience for me.

a) Katara and Sokka. They are supposed to have quite dark skin. And those fuckers were whiter than I am.
b) A hilarious goofball like Sokka, supposed to be portrayed by the static (albeit handsome) Jackson "I always look a bit constipated" Rathbone? No thank you.
c) Special effect don't matter if the storytelling is alright, but the bending.. Whoo boy, that just looked downright nasty.
d) Zuko is supposed to look Chinese and is a boy about 15-16 years of age. Not an Indian man that looks about 30.

Yeah, I'm gonna skip this one and wait until "Avatar: Legend of Korra" comes out on Netflix.

HEHE... not being spoiled by previous information about what the characters are supposed to be, I found that movie quite enjoyable... but... it begs for a sequel... where is it?

If you ever watch the original Nickelodeon series (and I warmly recommend that!), you'll understand Smile

The sequel is called the original series, and the upside is that it is a far, far better take on things than M. Night Shamwow could ever produce.

Cast the move from your mind, and go check out one of the best animated shows ever made, instead.

Also Korra. Tongue

61 episodes?.... Undecided
A few weeks ago, I got the Mysterious cities of gold for my kids to watch... It was great when I was a kid.... it still is!!... but it now has a few faults on the physics of.... oh ffs, it's still good fun! And "only" 39 episodes!
I can't imagine a cartoon from 2005-2008 to top one from 1982... which is still very watchable and the kids just wanted to keep watching to the very end!

As for forgetting the shaymeonhim's movie... it's not a problem as my memory isn't that good.... I only remember it was enjoyable and didn't finish the story.

Korra, you say?...

If you watch it, you'll understand this isn't nearly enough.

I was the same way, until I got sat down and told to watch the first few episodes. That large episode count means the quality has time to accumulate; by the time it should start to drag it's all flying by. You won't even notice the length, you'll just want more. Tongue

I concur. Of course, it's originally a show for children, so e.g. the fluff episodes are a bit silly and childish and some of the characters can be over the top at times. Nevertheless, the tempo is good, the animation is really nice, the story is superb, the characters' development and their relationships are beautifully portrayed and the humor appeals to me. And yes, they could have made it even longer.

Oh I got suckered in to watching The Notebook last night. It wasn't a bad movie, but it was just way to much of a chick flick for me to enjoy it. I kept getting distracted by the obvious signs of a chick flick.

1. The man she falls for has a beard. (This is the immediate tell-tale sign of a chick flick.)
2. The woman's mother is a bitch at first, but eventually redeems herself in the eyes of her daughter. (Why is it such a thing for women to hate/love their mother?)
3. None of the men get mad when she cheats. (Seriously? She tells her fiance that not only did she have a tryst with another man but that she had feelings for him as well, and he never once raised his voice.)
4. The man is overly gooey romantic, beyond the realm of actual male romanticism. ("You were so peaceful I didn't want to wake you, so I left flowers on the pillow next to you and then meticulously cut out arrows and laid them out on the ground leading you to a porch with an easel where you can paint while naked.")

All in all though, wasn't a bad movie. I'd give it a B+.

Uncle Buck. So funny. It was on cable the other night and I ran across it. Sad that John Candy died. Sad

I started watching "Sons of Anarchy" for some reason.

The series is utter shit.
