It depends. Some bibles are placed there specifically to take with you if you want (I got one from Thailand that way), others have an expressed label in them not to take them with you but to leave in the room (as I found in a German hotel). Either way it specifically states it in the inlay or first page. Otherwise one must assume that you need to leave them in the hotel.

Those saucy Gideons! Place a bible in the room just to tempt me to steal! Or maybe they have a mission to get bibles to as many people as possible? Methinks they WANT you to take them books. I HAVE heard they make great rolling papers but even now I find the idea repugnant.

Usually it's not stealing. I hadn't heard that some hotels don't like it. I was always under the impression that they were supplied for people to take if they wanted to. You know, any chance to spread the "Good News". Tongue

Actually, now that I think about it; I haven't taken a Bible, I keep on meaning to but forget. I do, however, have a Book of Mormon I got from a hotel, that's what I was thinking about.
