Your bible says that your God used to ask for burnt offerings as a way for being cleansed for giving birth. You're a Christian that worships that God. Therefore, you believe that quantum fluctuations may or may not desire burnt pigeons in exchange for cleansing women's blood? None of this sounds absurd to you?
Only one sacrifice was ultimately needed in the end, the sacrifice of Christ himself on the
cross at Calvary. The lamb without blemish and all that business. And through this selfless act you will have your salvation of course. The other religions say "do!" and Christs said "done!" that the power of Gods saving grace there. You don't get this from Neptune he just lived in the sea and pleased himself, caused the odd storm, released the Kracken. The God who would die for you, that's the guy right there.
Come all ye faithful joyful and triumphant.

In the end is irrelevant. The God is still the same God. I'll even grant you that Jesus makes it clear that the Old Testament stuff is no longer needed (which he doesn't). The question is...what kind of all powerful God would EVER have use for burnt pigeons and why were they EVER required as an apology for giving birth????! This doesn't strike you as odd at all? Really?
Have you read Leviticus? Have you read any pages in the bible that weren't assigned to you by your preacher?

Back then they believed God was literally up in the sky above the firmament and the way to please him be to get some pleasing aromas up there to him and once pleased he'll forgive their sins. What matters is you have a concept there of one God who is pleased/displeased by your moral standards/sin but is willing to forgive his people should they repent. So it can be seen as Christianity in it's embryonic stage, if Christianity is the true religion and not a heretical sect of Judaism gone mad. The pagan/classical gods such as Zeus had burnt offerings made to them as well so it was fairly standard practice at the time. The Jews/Hebrews being monotheists still had a very different kind of God.
Come all ye faithful joyful and triumphant.

What makes you think reforming a false religion will make it right? That same god that asked for these sacrifices is still false today.

So now Jesus was a liar for never saying Moses was wrong? Where is this discussion going?
