Can you Name a Single Successful Government Program?

Irrelevent. Government forced roads upon us, if our world existed without governments, the world's economic system would be completely different. Free market entities only use roads because they are there.

Roads existed ever since humans learned to travel.

The first roads such as the silk trail where actualy built by the free market for the purpose of trade. Roads were not "forced on mankind" by goverment. Roads came into existance through human travel. Goverments have merely been insuring that those roads are in a good and safe state ever since the Romans started reeinforcing them.

But who am I joking, you are ignorant of todays reality, so why should you care about historic facts?

I'd really like to see Koolaid answer this one.

Problem: Large numbers of miners are being killed in mining accidents.

Cause: Mining companies value profit more than life and refuse to implement basic safety standards.

Solution: Government institutes a program that requires mining companies to implement basic safety standards.

Effect: Immediate and large drop in the number of miners killed in work related accidents.

Oh but surely the free market will find its own way without government interference when it comes to safety standards! Surely it doesn't value the rise of profit margins over all else??

I would like a certain someone (hint: He's the OP) to name a single wide-scale endeavor by private concerns that have been for the good of their workers without a profit motive, government-mandated law, and/or tax incentive to do so.

Also, Libertarians accept government as valid. He sounds more like an anarchist.

And a stupid one at that. It's one thing to deny a governing body... it's quite another to be so ignorant as to suggest that no governing body ever has managed to accomplish any of its goals.

So apparently the goal posts have been shifted so far that any government program relying on tax funding doesn't count as a success. In other words, every single government program ever implemented.
