That sounds terrible, summerqueen. I don't really know what to say other than I'm sorry to hear that.

There isn't much to say. For bystanders, that's the worst - watching your friends suffer and you not being able to do a goddamn thing about it.
There are so many 'prayers' being offered and people saying shit like "god needed another angel". I know those people mean well but fucking seriously, what the fuck kind of god would wait until the due date to 'take' an otherwise healthy baby away from parents who would have given him every possible opportunity and all the love and compassion two healthy and amazing people could give a child?
When theists claim that atheists hate god, 99.9% of the time it isn't true. You can't hate something that doesn't exist, except in as far as finding a fictional character abhorrent. But imagining a deity who thought it was cool to needlessly strike down two people who didn't fucking deserve it in that way makes me seethe with hatred.

An acquaintance of mine, a very joyful and positive woman, who I met through another friend (they were/are somewhat close), had been having a perfect, excited pregnancy...all up until the due date, when nothing happened. They went to the doctor, and found out the baby had died. They still don't know what happened so suddenly. She had to deliver a stillborn this morning.
Fucking hell.
Damn! That's messed up.
The most I had heard of was 5 month fetus that just died and had to be... aborted(?).
On a slightly more positive note, she can try again! (can't she?)
My friend who had that 5 month problem is now the mother of 2 healthy and happy girls!

Yes, they're young enough to try again, if they want to. But, well, you know.

Do you happen know what her religious convictions are?

A pediatric intensive care physician I talked to told me that couples who experience something like that very often show up again a year later or so (if medically possible). Of course, everyone is different...

o0o0o0o, names please! And any other NYC recommendations (restaurants, activities, awesome spots to check out) would be massively appreciated!
Booked the plane tickets yesterday, I'm officially going to NYC in June!

So sorry to hear this. Pass long lots of hugs and support. Losing a wanted baby must be one of the worst things that could happen to a young couple. I wish them the best when they decide to try again.

I don't. She seems more agnostic, her husband seems more religious. It's irrelevant to how I approach helping them.

I really hope they try again. They would/will be great parents.

I like cold pizza as much as hot pizza. Depending on the pizza, sometimes more.
