At lunch headed to Downtown Detroit to deliver our goodie bags to the homeless that my awesome kids helped put together. Each bag contained chapstick, travel size shampoo, body soap, mouthwash, cough drops, kleenex, some cookies and a personal note from my kids that they are loved will be cared for.

Yeah we try to do it once a month and change up things based on the season. In the summer we will give sunscreen and deodorant etc. I've made a lot of relationships with some of these people. It's incredibly easy to pass judgment on them, but when you take time to be personal with them, love them and listen to them it really hits home how they are just people like you and I and they are in need. Most of them just want to feel like a person again and these small items mean the world to them. To have a clean feeling mouth, clean feeling hair, basically just some human dignity that we all take for granted. I encourage everyone to not just give the homeless some spare change or dollars, but take a few minutes of your time and speak with them as a person. I find the conversations go a lot farther than the gifts for most of them.

THIS. This right here. This is what it should be about. This is helping humanity. I haven't repped you yet, but you clearly deserve it. Treating people like they are people. Your kids have an excellent role model in you and the fact that you do it on a monthly basis and not just once a year during the cold weather is awesome.

That's awesome KP! We will be doing this the week before Christmas with my sister and her son and a couple of other family friends. I never thought about the note thing, that's a good idea.

That's great Losty! Personal notes go a long way in my experience doing this. I've got one guy downtown called "slappy" who still has all the notes we have given him and he always asks how my kids are doing.
