I just recently had an experience like this, and they both work at the same time and I highly recommend adding extras beyond just those two.

No, I'm talking about a mobile life support unit for a penis...

The hospital system for the project I'm working on has standard templates they use for all of their facilities - standard layouts for exam rooms, procedure rooms, weigh-in stations, reception areas, labs, offices, etc. so that docs can go from room to room (or facility to facility) and everything is in the same places. It's sort of like working with legos - the pieces are regimented and very standard but you can assemble them in different ways and use different colors and get different outcomes, but they all look like things built with legos.
The reception counter template refers to the shroud that is built to hide the receptionist's desk like this:
You combine these reception desk "blocks" to create reception desk areas, and every reception area will be slightly different (desks will be angled, staggered, rotated, mirrored, etc.) so you get natural variation from location to location but always with repetition of the standard template.
I finally got something going that's sort of working out and looks nice but I suspect it will be too expensive. Now proceeding to damage control and creating variations on a theme.
Mostly, working on these desks really bums me out especially since the coolest one I've come up with to date will probably never be built because the project was more or less scrapped. (It had concrete tiles with LED lights embedded in them, this cool rustic wood juxtaposed against a sleek solid surface counter, a nice decorate glazing component, a kick-ass $20,000 light fixture above it...)
Fascinating!
I've found that it sucks to have good taste in this sort of thing... you can never afford the things you really like.
$20,000 light fixtures?! what are they made of? gold? Palladium?

It was a custom-made LED up-down pendant light in an oval shape. If we had done the same light but in just a down-light it would have been $8000.
I just went trolling for renderings but it looks like we never made any so the only images of its fantasticness are in my and the project manager's mind...
