Yeah, we both know that technique. She had the damn thing *embedded* 3/8" deep in the pit, but the pit gave way. This 'cado wasn't ripe enough and the pit was kind of soft. It was really stuck in there.

Yeah... It didn't help that she was using my BIG RAZOR SHARP santoku. I think she learned the hard way that it's not the right tool for pitting avocados. I eat a shit load of Avocados. In order to get the pit out of the center, simply bite into it a tiny bit, then pull it out with your teeth. It really is the best way that I've discovered.

Yea, a good avocado can be ripped in half with your hands and a gentle squeeze will pop the pit right out.

I usually lever the pit out using a fork. It can be sunk into the pit a few millimeters and then *pop*

I'm doing something which I have been meaning to do for a long time, which is trying to get into Jazz. I'm listening to Sun Ra, I plan on listening to Herby Hancock, Dave Brubeck, Andrew Hill. I've always sort of considered Jazz and Classical to be true thinking music, which is something I have been searching for.
