What's everyone up to right now?

Listening to a recording of Donizetti's Maria Stuarda, with Dame Janet Baker in the lead. Sublime.

I love Donizetti so much. He would have been my featured composer in the Italian set of my senior recital in college, but my voice teacher insisted on the Baroque era and Handel... SO boring to me!

Drinking a Port Brewing SIPA. Surprisingly good for a session beer, and low in alcohol at 4.5%. Yum!

Boo, hiss!

On the other hand, I'm drinking a growler of Oskar Blues Old Chub, which is my idea of a session beer. 8% ABV.

Haha! When I find a low-alcohol beer I enjoy, I'm elated! My preferred beers are usually 7% or more.

Kicking back some Leinenkugel reds ("The Pride of Chippewa Falls Wisconsin"). I found what I did with my Raspberry Pi that I was searching for earlier. Food (beef broth, ramen noodles & hoisin sauce, and chicken with Roma tomato pizza), a few healthy glasses of tequila, a nap, and a few hours listening to music, and I'm much improved over the basket case I was earlier today. I found two of the four sticks of memory I couldn't locate, and another unmatched stick of the same size memory. The stuff I found is DDR, and the missing stuff is DDR2. If memory serves, the machine is not as fully reliable under DDR2 as it is running DDR, so it's probably just as well. I'm sure I'll find those sticks of DDR2 in a computer or something. I've got about 8 machines in various states of production, damned if I know completely what's inside all of them at any moment, though I can rule out most, as only a small few will take DDR2. The machine I'm building has three slots for memory, which is unusual for a motherboard of its type. If I'm able to populate all three banks, that will give me 1.5 GB of main memory, which should be enough for its planned role. Given the hardware though, there's probably only a 50-80% chance I can fill all three slots and have the thing still run stably and reliably. There's a good chance that it will become unstable with more than the two matched DDR sticks installed. Still enough memory, but I'd like to be able to use all three sticks.

I'm supposed to go to bed between midnight and 1 am so that I can get up at 10 am each morning. However, I've dinked around till it's 4:30 am, so I think I'll just stay up. I've taken 12 mg of perphenazine, but I don't feel sleepy. I had a two hour nap earlier, that should be enough sleep, as I seldom sleep more than 4 hours anyway.

Hrm. For the htpc / dnla server that I'm prototyping, I can choose either a fanless GF4 vivo card, or a Radeon 9000 without the vivo dongle. The GF4 has the vivo and fanless operation, whereas the Radeon has a tuner and built in discrete cosine transform hardware engine (important for encoding and decoding video). When I last played with the Radeon, the tuner had image corruption issues, but different drivers could fix that, and I don't need vivo necessarily. So it's a hard call.

You are fortunate if 4 hours will get you through your day. I'm not fun to be around with so little sleep. Worse, I don't have the energy for projects I want to do either. (What the hell am I doing up at 2:46 am?)

I assume a medication which causes clots could also cause stroke. Do you know who did it? It might be a good idea to talk to that person and warn them!

I would report the situation to your supervisor immediately. That's a dangerous situation, and it's above your pay grade to deal with it. Turn the matter over to your superiors. That's the responsible thing to do, imho.
