People like this are just fucking parasites

I was going to compare them to vultures, but at least the vulture waits until you're dead.

Went to the dentist today. For a couple weeks now have had one tooth EXTREMELY sensitive to cold. Even room temperature liquids would give me a jolt. And it was annoying, I really enjoy cold beverages, yes, even ice cubes in my milk, which I used to think was really gross, but I found out I really like and many restaurants won't serve milk with ice but most will give you a glass of ice on the side, especially if you don't tell them what you're going to do with it.

Anyhow, guess what they do to you at the dentist if you tell them you have a tooth very sensitive to cold ??

Well, of course, since you might be a total psycho, they have to see for themselves if you're making up shit or not. And this is accomplished with a little probe they have which is cooled in liquid helium 3 superfluid to just about 1/10th of a degree from ABSOLUTE FUCKING ZERO, -454 F !!!!

Anyhow, he's poking around in there, "feel this?" "no" "feel this?" "no" "fe . . " {I jump out of chair} {BTW, it makes their FUCKING DAY if they can make an old fart like me jump out of the chair}

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST !!!! I didn't just feel it in the hinky tooth, I fucking felt it EVERYWHERE. I've been shocked with serious electricity before (lightning, fence charger, household AC) and this jolt of white hot searing fucking pain was even a new experience for me.

{BTW, I go to a dental college, I don't think my student had encountered this scenario before either

So he called an instructor over (the instructors are great there, best dentistry I've had in my life), and they had quite a confab on what all the tests meant (he x-rayed that tooth, tapped it, etc.) and I could see the instructor wanted my student to work out was going on, and finally he said "sinus infection?" and the instructor said that was best possibility for what was wrong.

So, I get to take some pills, he dabbed tooth with some fluoride since it won't hurt anything, and said he'd call in a week/10 days and see if I'm seeing improvement.

I'm not thrilled with another week of getting lit up with every sip of liquid, but really nice to know tooth is fine and doesn't need any work.

So, right now, I'm aware of that (and some other work I had done) and not really eager to have supper. I microwaved some diet tea, and am sipping that, got the temperature pretty close to 98 and tooth not reacting to that (the other one is unfortunately). And with my 12 Stepper background, I'm not taking anything stronger than aspirin now, and frankly, it's not doing much. I might try an Aleve, and it does work well for me, but with continued use it gives me a rash. A day or 2 is no big deal, but I'm reluctant to go there if I don't have to.

I do have some celebrex, but jesus, even with prilosec, that shit is rough on the plumbing. Hope I feel better tomorrow.

(that poor kid, he really felt bad about the cold test, and I had no idea the effect would be that intense, and he didn't give me a heads up either, I think he just didn't realize. The instructors were thrilled, they love seeing their students handle unexpected conditions, and I think I delivered today.

Had a good check up otherwise, he remains amazed how well my slightly unconventional approach to dental hygiene is working for me.

You wouldn't think that rubbing cow shit on your teeth every day would result in great teeth... Tongue

Not to try and play the one-upsmanship game, but the last time we were in hospice care (I stay with Luckie when she's in there, most of the time), following a pair of rough surgeries, our landlord- who is Luckie's cousin and shared the house with us- stealthily began the process of selling our home out from under us without notifying us at all, fully in the knowledge that neither of us were working during that period, for obvious reasons. We got our 30 days' notice the day she got out of the care facility, and a demand that we clean up for a home inspection that night, despite everything that'd happened.

There's something about extended medical care that makes a certain type of opportunistic person think "well, clearly they've ceased to exist!" It's gross, but at least it's instructive as to who your friends are.

It's a shame there's not really any legal recourse for the parasites that do that (that I'm aware of, anyway).

Imagine the fuss that would be made if I said to a patient, "Oh well, can I have your car?"

There's always the secret RJA option. But you only make that call in the most dire of circumstances. The collateral damage can be serious.

Just checked on my little girl and she is finally asleep.
Excuse after excuse she's given me tonight.
Thirsty, sore leg, noises, forgot her favourite toy she can't sleep without, need to pee, etc.
So finally I made her a warm milk, read another long story and gave her a back tickle plus a pillow to put her sore leg on.
I'm glad this doesn't happen all the time. :-)
