"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

![]() I gotta get it together to take the dog out. Tires the fuck out of me! It's mainly the mental exhaustion of having to constantly keep an eye on her, as she desperately tries to throw herself in front of any dangerous object she can find. She has no road sense, or indeed any sense ![]() I adore her to bits and don't for a second regret getting her. I love our walks. It's just the reality that with my CFS they do me in. But they are good for me, at the same time. It forces me to have some daily exercise why I may well otherwise not do, to get outside, and to interact with others even if very briefly. (Who knows, maybe I'll get wolf whistled again ![]() Then feeding Opal, then feeding the rabbits, then playing with Opal, then... collapsing! I've received my bookkeeping textbooks and made a very brief start with the first one. The line between bookkeeping and accounting seems increasingly blurred. I seem to have to become virtually an accountant even to properly do bookkeeping duties. Oh well! I'll be well rounded and well placed by the end of it. It's going to take a while, I have 8 books to get through! And my concentration for reading isn't great at the moment. Hopefully it will improve when I get into the swing of things. I need to set up one of the spare rooms as an office, or else I get Opal jumping all over me when I'm trying to concentrate ![]() Feel free to send me a private message.

Finished watching American Crime Story, S1. Really perplexed at the whole thing.
Sitting at work with nothing to do.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

"Ironically like the nativist far-Right, which despises multiculturalism, but benefits from its ideas of difference to scapegoat the other and to promote its own white identity politics; these postmodernists, leftists, feminists and liberals also use multiculturalism, to side with the oppressor, by demanding respect and tolerance for oppression characterised as 'difference', no matter how intolerable." - Maryam Namazie |
