It's 10:51pm in the UK and about 250 degrees outside.

I feel for you. Last year, my department (all four of us), absorbed the function of 1.5 other departments, while at the same time, we were told that there was a moratorium on salary increases. (This was assuaged with a promise of a sizable cash bonus at EOY 2016 - though there's been enough waffling on that point that I'm definitely waiting until I have the dough in hand before even thinking of spending it.)

Look at the bright side though, you're at least not on call when you're on vacation. Tongue

I'm partly Scandinavian-descended myself. San Diego was annoyingly warm today. The citywide temp was listed as 73 (22.78), but it felt like 80 (26) where I was. I prefer 60 or so (15).
