If the studio had treated the first couple of seasons of each of TNG or DS9 the way Fox treated Firefly, there wouldn't have been a modern Trek series.
That's almost tautological, though: if any studio had treated any show the way Fox treated Firefly, there wouldn't be any more of that show.

Irony note for today: I'm writing smut while listening to a cover of Hellfire on repeat. Hellfire, a song about a pathological religious fear of sexuality turning to violence against an innocent woman.
