What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
Never eaten a burrito or a taco.

I think there's a Mexican place in the city somewhere. I'll try them sometime!

Gaw!

You poor people.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

We do Petiscos...

hmmmm tacos with moelas.... that could be a great idea! (gizzards, you guys would call them)

That could be good. I like chicken gizzards, but I've only eaten them breaded and fried. Never in a taco, though.

Breaded and fried.... never had them that way...
Are they chewy? crunchy? or what?

We have them stewed and they can just melt in your mouth. Being stewed, they fit neatly in a taco Smile

Well... not because it's Spanish... but more because it's silly.
The concept of Tapas doesn't make sense to a Portuguese mind Tongue
But Petiscos (which means "snacks" and is almost the same as Tapas) does make sense:
Octopus salad, snails, moelas and a few other snacks are crowd favorites to go with beer.

And the best part, they're relatively cheap... compared to the Tapas I had in Madrid for some 8€ per small plate.... definitely cheap!
5€ a whole tray of moelas.... yum yum!

Chewy. They are reallly good, but I haven't had any since I was a kid. (They are really cheap, and made for an easy meal for my mom the Navy wife.)

I didn't actually know what they were until I was like 12. Lol. I couldn't imagine them stewed, but I'd certainly try them.

Tapas the concept, not tapas the hipster craze. Tapas is artificially expensive (at least here in the US) because it is new and hip. But the reality is that it is just small, varied portions.

But that petiscos thing sounds yummy.

Dude.... you gotta come by Portugal someday! Big Grin
Preferably, in September - you can still find snails, moelas is an year-round treat and the fresh octopus salad is very welcome indeed..... then there the marisco... seafood...

That, or you get a recipe and make your own Tongue
