So I just got off the phone with my youngest daughter (age 25) and learned that she is likely going to Abu Dhabi in January to teach English to girls between the ages of 10 and 13. She hasn't yet signed the contract but plans to, pending a couple of minor points of negotiation. She would be signing on for a two year stint, though it sounds like that is somewhat flexible, and she would have the option to transfer to another country if she so chose. She is excited about the opportunity, and I'm excited for her. But . . .

Damn! Possibly two years halfway around the world? I'm very happy for her sake because I know that this could lead to some interesting and wonderful opportunities for her, but I feel a bit sad about it, too. She's still my baby. I can't help it.

hmmm... Arab countries... tell your girl to take care with what she drinks.

What she wears, who she touches, where she eats and shops, what she says, who she is seen in public with. And I'm sure there's more.

Crossless if your daughter isn't used to being heavily constrained, the Arabian countries are probably not a good place for her to go to. If she's a teaching of TEFL degree China, Korea or Japan would probably offer the same kind of job with much better benefits (most definitely the last two).

So I just went to the supermarket and on the way back to my car I was following a very attractive young lady.
She glanced over her shoulder a few times with a worried look like I'm a stalker so I tried to be looking somewhere else when she looked at me.
We get to the car park and I suddenly remembered I parked somewhere else today.
Her car was the only one there.
I just thought I'd share that awkward situation with you all.
