Yes, indeed, I am alive.
It’s been a ca-razy second half of the year which has included:
- My sister moving home from New York so…
- Lots of family time
- Crazy-expensive and unexpected dental work combined with…
- Expensive car repairs, consequently leaving me no money so…
- My free time has been spent boning up on watercolor skills so paintings are worth giving away for Xmas in lieu of things that cost money
- Being pressed into service as my HOA’s interim Secretary (soon to become a full-time position as the HOA President is leaving in the next 6 months and I refuse to do that job)
- New hires at work because we’ve been so busy and…
- Dealing with a building fire back in September that my office is still recovering from (but we are FINALLY moved back to our desks!!)
Throw in there some bronchitis, IRL friends, upcoming holidays (including office parties and birthdays), normal obligations and the stress of the US elections this year and it’s been a really freaky string of time for which, on the whole, it’s probably been one of the healthier choices not to have a robust (or even anemic) online presence.
But rest assured that I am alive, I’m am (generally speaking) fine, I’m just busy.
With that said, I’m off to meet a deadline…

Long first day at school. Getting used to this new schedule is going to be rough.
Afterwards I had to take K his wrestling headgear that arrived yesterday.
Sitting down to eat. Rob made chicken cordon bleu.

Finally unwinding at the end of a long day. My friend's 16-year-old son has been splitting time with me and his aunt here in Ohio so he can go to school. He was scheduled for a tonsillectomy today, and I found out Saturday that they'd need me to drive him to the hospital and back. No big deal. I don't like people springing last-minute stuff on me when they knew weeks in advance that they'd have to, but I'm not working and have the time. So I leave home at 6:30, pick him and his aunt up, and drive them to the hospital.
Surgery goes well and we're leaving the hospital around 3:00pm. Not the longest day I've ever had. We drop him off at his aunt's and just as I'm going to leave to pick up his prescriptions and some food/drink for him he tells me he'd rather come home with me. Not a problem! I drop him off at home, drive his aunt to Walmart (she's got his dad's insurance card, so she picks up the meds)... and wait an hour while they haggle with the insurer, who finally tells them that the Rx info is outdated. Fine, I say, I'll pay it out-of-pocket and his dad can figure it out from there. I text him to let him know and after some more driving back and forth, end up at home around 6:00pm...
...where his dad texts me that, oops! He forgot to give them his updated info. Sigh.
Eleven and a half hours? Meh, it's still not the longest day I ever had (I worked in IT for ~20 years) and the mild aggravation from so many quirks costing us so much time is mitigated by the fact that the surgery went well and the kid's on the way to a painful few days as he recovers, but he'll recover. And hopefully he won't have to deal with 2-4 cases of strep throat every year anymore. Me? I'm going to spend tomorrow doing a whole lot of nothing.

Had a vivid dream that there were tornadoes everywhere earlier. Was such a deep sleep I woke up a bit startled
This is recurrent, been a few times I've had such a dream now. I don't know why I get them or what pseudo-paranormal "meaning" it might have (I'm sceptical of that stuff)

Why is everyone a know it all prick on Electronic music forums?
Maybe it's just because I'm the new guy over there.
Just posting a song up over there is getting me more aggression than arguing about white privilege over here.

I've lurked on music forums before, and I'm like...ummm...no. lol I joined a piano forum like two years ago, and probably posted twice and never went back. I play the piano, and these people were insane...so rude...so arrogant. It was not what I expected. I just wanted to get some advice on memorization techniques lol
