"What do you want for Christmas?"
Me - "I don't know, don't really think I want anything"
"But you must have something! You'll have nothing to open"
*shrug*
I just don't care. Tbh I'd rather just have the equivalent of the money you spend on my brother, in cash, and I'll save it for when I see something I really want. I can't really fake joy at opening a present I really didn't want or ask for, I'm not that kinda bitch. Sorry... I'll still get you something though.
Why don't you have an answer prepared every year?
I mean, I have this same conversation with my mother every year. I tell her the same thing. "I don't want anything" is selfish, even if it's the truth. Gift giving is mostly about the giver. I tell my mother, "Clothing. Whatever you get me, make sure it is from a store that is near me, and include the gift receipt."

Straight to crack? Don't want to even try coke first?
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Staring in {something substantially less than abject horror} at the first chair clarinet parts I have to learn for next Wednesday. I'm normally 2nd clarinet but to the best of our knowledge and belief none of the firsts can make next week's gig.
As the semi-official Assistant Principal of the clarinet section, guess who's playing those parts next week? Razzafracking field promotion... *mutter mutter*
On the bright side, in the last year I've made massive improvements at the higher end of the clarinet (which is where most 1st parts eventually end up) and I can also sight-read twice as fast. I'm looking at a solo that fucking terrified Me 2-3 years ago and going "Hey -- I can actually play this now."

Listening to Tchaikovsky, failing to realize that it's dang near midnight!

In that case I have high hopes that our civilization will be spared thanks to a failure to correctly factor out x in the equation of the doomsday device.

Not sure -- We don't always video our gigs. I really should charge up Ye Olde Webcam and actually record some of this stuff.

Put down the cannons and the Sugarplum Fairies and back away slowly.
