Can someone explain why that two-hour limit rule is a thing? Does it make the forum run more smoothly or something? I've been on others that don't have it.
It's so people can't go back and edit posts days or more later and make them say something they didn't say to begin with, or remove all of the content. Stuff like that is unfair to the people who responded in the discussion at the time. Especially when you can make responses in line look really badly.

Seems fair enough
I just hate when a well thought out post gets ruined by some 5-year-old-worthy grammar haha

I think it's just in service to Tibs' ideal of the immutability of posts on the site... so that people can't change the whole flow of a conversation after the fact by changing or editing out what they said... or at least not too much/too long after the fact.

Maybe a possible alternative would be instead of limiting the duration, limit the amount of characters that can be changed in an edit (if it was programmatically feasible I mean)... so that it could only really be used for correcting typos etc rather than changing/deleting whole blocks of text.

Editing posts forever is the sole reason I became a mod.

Just got back from the movies with my daughter.
We saw Trolls.
My kid loved it and I feel asleep multiple times only to be awoken with, 'daddy, you're snoring again.'
Maybe something funny had just happened in the movie but I think people may have been laughing at me.
It's ok though. When I'm dad I'm immune to embarrassment.
My daughter is not. :-)

I'll bet It is/was great having those permissions down in Mafia... I felt so free (get the violins out ) so I think it would be heaven to have them on the whole site. I had them for doing the stats but I'm not doing them any more so they should probably be revoked... but still, it was fun while it lasted.

Listening to the pogues fairy tale in New York while in work getting goosebumps.
A song about a domestic dispute really makes me feel so Christmassy
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.
