In addition to this, she made the Tennis team this year.
So proud of her. Mostly honors classes and she's furthering her studies in music and taking her second year of German.

But... but... death it is coming, it is certain. If you do chemo, you will die!

(on average, you die a "bit" later than if you didn't do it, though...)


And there are certainly cases where people don't do chemo and have a perfect recovery... until they die!
These anecdotal cases are usually the ones who feed these stupid notions that standard medicine doesn't work so well...

She was advocating for me to go to a doctor in Springfield who has "an amazing new treatment!" and who says that chemo makes cancer come back later - worse.

(1) Chemo is sure as shit the best medical treatment for active, invasive breast cancer.
(2) Cancer coming back is always a risk you run, there's no way to drop that probability to zero unless you're dead and I'm not planning on dying.
(3) I'm not going to drop my treatment plan on the the say-so of a girl I grew up with and her mom's lame excuse for "research" - I'll stick with OHSU and the people who spend their lives studying and treating cancer thankyouverymuch.

Thumpalumpacus Unplugged!    Seems to be quite a musical night we've got going here.

Back from the community concert band show.  Went really well.  Our second-to-last number was an arrangement of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," and right near the end 2nd clarinet has a 5-bar exposed part (IOW, essentially playing a solo because almost all the band drops out).  Nailed. That. Sucker.

And now, with all the clarinet gear and gewgaws emptied out of my knapsack, I am officially in packing mode for my eclipse trip.
