On a tangentially related note, I've noticed several pickup trucks with American Flags waving off the tailgates. Two just this weekend. Wondering if it's a growing trend a la "Let me be conspicuously patriotic with my giant-ass flag so I can accuse you of not being patriotic enough when you disagree with me"?
Watched the Portland v Boston game last night and WTF? Boston is practically bottom-ranked and Portland was playing for a home-seed playoff game and Boston just about kicked our asses! Thankfully we've got Franch who was on her game last night and Raso who never gives up on a ball because we'd've lost 5-0 without them.

Yeah the news article wasn't clear on the location.
I've seen those trucks, one I saw had a USA flag on one side and a black flag with crossed AR-15's on the other.

On the train to work. Police are using K-9 units to sweep trains. Haven't seen that before.

The article I linked to said the guy in Vancouver with the truck had "two large American flags and several small flags hanging from its windows (along with a Confederate flag decal displayed on the back window of the cab)"
Question: How safe do you think it is to assume that if a person has a pickup truck and said truck has a big American flag waving off of it that that person is likely to be a giant asshole?
In other words: flag-size to asshole, is it a 1:1 ratio? And if so, what does having two flags on your pickup do to said ratio?

Reminds me of before the holidays, we had police with assault rifles guarding the nearest town's train station, and also occasionally sweeping the trains.

My parents may got home from visiting my sister in Baltimore and they came home with "condolence" gifts from various people who she knows who she told about my diagnosis (her mother, her mother in law, some friends...)
So of these gifts i got a journal with Bible quotes in it and a book called "what cancer cannot do" which is full of "inspiring" stories of how cancer cannot cripple God's love and how Abraham and Sarah chaffed while waiting for a baby and how futile that chaffing and fretting was because it didn't change the results so you shouldn't chaf over waiting for results of tests....

I'm going to throw these things in a box in the back of my closet and proceed to eating the awesome cookies my sister sent me.
With some ice cream.
And chocolate syrup.
