What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
Listening to KEXP over a lobster roll, kettle chips and a whoopie pie and a Dr. Pepper.

Wondering if this meteorologist at least has a wet-suit on under his clothes.
He's been on-the-scene reporting for the better part of an hour, and all he has on is regular pair of pants and a windbreaker.

He can barely stand.

EDIT: They just made him come in.

EDIT 2: And.....Now he's back out. He must have protective wear under there or he'd be hypothermic by now, I think.
Oh wait...he's in trouble again. Wind is tossing Mike's ass around like a ragdoll. He's exhausted. "Mike...Mike....Do you need a minute? Mike...MIKE!"

Oh, forget this. I'm turning to TVLand.

It's kind of amazing to me that anybody makes these weather people stand out there when it's like this. But...they are indeed weather people. Just doing their job. I guess.

Still baffling, in this case. Kinda cringeworthy to watch.

Atl. Utd. vs. FC Dallas at Mercedes Benz Stadium.

Starting with eine kleine, I suspect there would be a little Mozart in there as well?

Well, it starts with a straight-up rendition of "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik," played deadpan with proper Mozart-era phrasing and articulation.  Things go south pretty fast, though, when the Mozart mutates into "Mony Mony."  Before we come clattering to a noisy halt on the far side of the piece, there have been sightings of "Peter and the Wolf," Copland's Appalachian Spring, the Pachelbel Canon, a reprise of the Mozart, the 9th, the 1812 overture, and Dvořák's New World Symphony, and a sizeable catalogue of pop tunes from the 1950s and 1960s.

Last night, when I realized that the Tchaikovsky was going to coincide with the fireworks, it was all I could do to not crack up laughing and just keep playing.  I wasn't so lucky when I started with this band back in 2011 -- The first time we ran through "The Liberty Bell" by Sousa, I was laughing too hard to play because all I could think of was the Monty Python opening credits.  (I got better.)

(Oh, in the "What are you doing" department I'm currently at my usual weekend bookstore/coffee shop haunt.  Someone's noodling away on a grand piano that lives in the bookstore, and I'm planning to do some writing.  Earlier on I was saying hi to new next-door neighbours, and giving the garden a good soaking that it desperately needed.)

Hope your flu gets better soon -- I find it's helpful to stay away from dairy products till the flu clears, and to drink mass quantities of liquid.

Just got off the phone with an old friend who simply dialed the phone 20th century-style and called...no texts and no messages first asking "is it ok to call?". We had a lovely conversation - I miss the days when people just called out of the blue!

First I've heard of that T.
Checking first to see if it's ok to ring!

Here in Oz, if the phone rings at dinner time, we pick up and start abusing first assuming it's some Indian trying to sell cheaper electricity!

Eg: fuck off I'm eating you rude pricks , if I wanted to change electricity providers, I would've done it myself! Now fuck off!

Oh, mum, yeah, sorry about that. You weren't meant to hear that.
No God, No fear.

Watching a video of a jackass plowing his truck through a crowd of counter protestors in Portland, apparently intentionally.

He was arrested minutes later. No word on injuries.

There was violence committed by counter-protesters but nothing on this scale.

Stay classy.

I'm getting ready for my first day of reporting for jury duty, which begins this morning at 8am.  I'll be sure to bring some of my math books and a good book on conflict resolution.

Cheers!

I am so damn jealous. Wish I could do this daily. It would definitely take away my pain and help me feel a lot better.

And be a lot funnier.
