Thanks y'all. Just writing all that out helped. I cried a bit then did my make up so they couldn't tell and then I went back out there and pretended it didn't happen.
Now we are finishing up the garage sale and I'm trying to see if there is anywhere to donate the rest of this stuff. It needs to go but I don't want to throw it away.

Any black charities in the area?

First of all, mlmooney, this (((hug))) is for you. I don't know what I would do in such a situation, unless avoiding those family members altogether was a viable option.
Ran the last load of wood scraps over to the recycling depot, along with two bags of weeds, branches and other garden detritus. Dare I say it... my back yard looks almost normal now.
Made a batch of red bean paste buns, using some puff pastry for the outer shells. Finally made the lentil soup I had been planning to make for a couple of weeks.
The plan for this afternoon is to drill some holes in the living room wall and mount some speaker brackets, but first I'm going out to the garden to plant some ambitious garlic cloves that have sprouted. I don't know if they'll turn into anything edible during our short growing season (apparently the time to plant garlic is during the fall, not late spring), but it's better than just chucking 'em in the compost.

Watching the Twins game and looking at bicycles on the web. I need to get more exercise in my life. I need a bike with a coaster brake. Unfortunately, besides cruisers, which I don't like, all the common commuter bikes have straight handlebars and steel frames. I could live with a steel frame, though I don't want the weight. But I would prefer drop handlebars.

After lunch, I decided to check my bicycle's rear brake cable, as it was sticking a lot when the temperatures were sub-freezing and it was still hard to brake, in spite of my throwing a bunch of silicone lubricant (claimed to remain lubing down to -35C).
Today, the day was nice enough to spend some time at the task of disassembling the damn thing to clean up the brake cable.
Turns out it was very dirty. Very very very dirty...
So dirty that some of the small wires that make up the cable were broken and a few of those crumbled as I tried to unwind them from the main cable. At some point, I figured it was hopeless. Too many wires were broken and, as soon as it looked decent and I put the sleeve on, more broken wires showed up and got all tangled...
*Sigh*
Went out to buy a new brake cable at Halford's. Had to ask the guys for the cable terminators, because I couldn't find them... and they had them hidden in their workshop, the bastards!
Anyhoo, went back home, took the bike apart, again, removed the old cable, inserted the new on through the two sleeves... damn... forgot about the brake lever... take it out of the sleeves, insert it properly through the brake lever thingy, sleeves, again, attach it to the actual brake, tweak the tension for easy braking et voilá!
Took the bike for a spin and it even brakes better now!

I installed some lattice under my deck this evening. It's so hot and muggy outside that I am legit wore out.
It doesn't look great yet, need to put some molding around the edges (especially the stairs because of the weird cut angle) but I was getting too tired and starting to take shortcuts and thought it best to leave it to next week.
It stays pretty cool and muddy down there, and for some reason Tanner loves to just walk around in the mud before coming in the house. I had some ghetto boards and obstacles in the way, but it looked terrible and he kept finding ways to squeeze through.
Maybe now I can mop the floors and it will last more than 20 mins without muddy dog prints.

I got four books about history. Going to figure out which one to start reading first.

Went over to the rental hose, as the sprinklers in the back yard stopped working. After checking for AC line power and resetting the timer (unnecessary, but the renter was "helping"), we discovered that the ground return wire from the solenoid valves had been knocked apart. I'll have to go back and armor the wires so it doesn't happen again. 2 hours shot, between driving there and back, finding the problem and fixing it.
