Didn't sleep too well last night, so I was up early.

Discovered another application for ChromeCast. PowerDVD player will cast a DVD to it. I've got a bunch of DVDs on disk. Now I can watch them without burning a DVD or converting them with handbrake.

My gf had both her first day of work after two months holiday. (She's a kindergarten teacher.) As well as her birthday.

I took a day off to clean the house so she would come back to a clean place, and decided to cook up a three-course dinner.

For starters: Melon and shrimp salad (with added yellow paprika), with a vinaigrette sauce

I did mash too, but that didn't look too well and I threw away what was left. This portion is going into the freezer. I feel I got the seasoning right.

You can serve this with whipped cream. Or with ice-cream, like I did. Another popular option seems to be to put icing sugar on the top.
I wanted mine to rise a bit more and to fall down in the middle, but this is not a bad first try for me.

I'm just catching a breather before doing the last of the clean-up.

Found a General Tso's Chicken slow cooker recipe that I absolutely had to try. It's slow cooking away right now. Still have to run to the store for some onions and peppers to finish it off.

Going to see Yes (with Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, and Rick Wakeman) at Ravinia. There have been reports of thunderstorms in the area potentially leading to flash flooding, but we're prepared, and hopefully, things won't be totally unbearable on the lawn. I've been to Ravinia concerts when it was raining buckets before. If Dad and I chicken out before the concert starts (or finishes), I'll tell you.

Maybe soon, we'll see the version with Steve Howe and Alan White, before they croak like Chris Squire did.

Okay, bad news: Dad's looked further into it and found that the rain around Highland Park is going to be even worse than previously thought, so we're not going. Seriously, this will be the third Ravinia concert we've tried to go to this year that's been ruined by shitty weather.

More embarrassing news: It's actually Jethro Tull I'll be missing out tonight, not Yes.

Fortunately, the Yes concert is on Friday, and that seems to be the only day this week that doesn't have any rain forecasts.

So, the only thing to do now is listen to this:

Got the General Tso's Chicken done, portioned and in the freezer, but will be looking for a different recipe. This one isn't bad, but it's not that good either.

Also got six freezer pizza tucked away for a rainy day, or a Tuesday dinner.
