@rev - yeah I'm aware of diminishing returns WRT to power - I was referring to wattage not sound level. It's actually plenty loud for my purposes as it is, I just like to tweak stuff. I'm just curious how this little thing would drive a 4x12 cab.

Probably pretty damn well. Hell, the math tells me a 4x12 could even hit the “twice as loud” threshold pretty quick. Also, I discovered recently that if you’re looking into new speakers, your general rule of thumb should be something like, it needs to be able to handle roughly twice the amp’s output wattage. Especially if it doesn’t specify whether the handling is peak wattage or RMS.

Me Uncle died today on his 87th birthday.
Walking on the road yesterday afternoon, hit by a car. He was a stubborn Scotsman and wouldn't be put in a home or have someone lend him a hand. He was a feller who had principles and he never lost them. (October 19, 2019 at 4:55 am)Little lunch Wrote: Me Uncle died today on his 87th birthday. Sorry for your loss. Just got out of the movie "Joker".
Very interesting. Great acting. Good story, but it's not what you think it is. I didn't go in with very many preconceptions. Some elements of the story I could do without, but on the whole, very good.

Okay, so here's what went down today: Today is Dad's 65th birthday. But I'm not feeling well and Dad's not so hot either. So, after talks about going to a local car museum or seeing Joker in the theater (the only movie Fandango says is out in theaters that seems interesting, with the possible exception of Rambo: Last Blood, solely for its Deep Hurting Project value, but I decided I'm going to watch the other four Rambo movies before I delve into that particular cesspool), we just settled for going to American Science and Surplus. I found a plastic sunfish and bought it. I'm hoping to figure out how to make a laminated card to attach to the little stand that came with it that has the Parable of the Sunfish in full.

The great man offered him a small fish and told him to describe it. And this week in the Deep Hurting Project: Star Paws. Also, I'm only just now getting a tracking number for the 7 Series Overdrive.

Okay, so, as promised, I printed out the parable of the sunfish onto a small piece of paper, laminated it (with clear packing tape), punched a hole in it, attached it to its little stand with a zip tie, and here it is:
![]() Responding to Ezra Pound’s challenge, here’s my take: First off, when I looked up the sunfish after first reading the parable, one thing became clear: this was not a small fish. According to Wikipedia, mola mola is one of the biggest bony fish in the world, weighing anywhere between 545 lbs and a metric ton. There’s no way Agassiz could have put it out for a student to stare at for three weeks. In fact, Wikipedia’s page on the Parable of the Sunfish describes three contemporaries of Agassiz talking about the same exercise, but nobody calls it a sunfish. Hell, the heading image on the page is of a preserved dogfish. Describe the fish Okay, it’s an ugly motherfucker, like a pufferfish got flattened by a steamroller while lying on the ocean floor, with its tiny mouth and massive dorsal and anal fins like a cross between a shark and an albatross, and pelvic fins so small they look like they’d be useless or at least rudimentary. The tail can only be described as a half-formed abortion, looking like bulbous bits of pork fat that combine the two big fins into one big superfin. Describe the fish, laddie All right fine. It’s made out of plastic, very glossy and waxy to boot, with a blue stand of fake coral or anemone that allows that lower fin and tai to fit smoothly onto it. Looking at the paint job, if I look closely at it, it looks kind of like it’s been brushed on. You can see the brush strokes, and it looks like someone added grime to it, but upon further inspection, it looks like a black wash was applied to parts of it. Someone seems to have taken a penknife to it at some phase in development to add some texture to it. Taking it off its stand, I see written on the anal fin “sunfish ©️ 2013 Safari Ltd Miami, FL, USA Made in China.” Also, a barely legible CE symbol and a stamp reading 1213. This guy is pushing six. And looking it up, I see that the $2.65 I paid for it at American Science and Surplus may or may not be a huge markdown. Aye, laddie, you did good.

Two things happened today: Dad talked about building a case for the bass we built a couple years ago. I made a remark about the high action (1/4" on the G-string, higher on the E-string.) Then I played it a bit and realised that there was one problem that was even bigger: the fingerboard was concave. The result: once you try to play far enough up the fingerboard (which is inevitable for a Peter Hook fan), the pitch stops going up because the action is higher in the middle of the fingerboard than on the end, so it just gets stuck on the board and it ends up dampening it after a certain point.
Other thing; the battery in my Hyundai Elantra died of old age this afternoon. Dad drove me to work (and Subway) and took the car to Car-X, where they replaced the battery.
