Just went back to the library to pick up some DVDs and Norah Jones' new album for what I think will be the last time before I go up to Wisconsin (unless, of course, they get Oogieloves sometime in the next couple days or one of the other albums I have on hold [the new albums by Lucinda Williams, New Pornographers, Ray LaMontagne, and Fiona Apple, plus a copy of All Eyez On Me that I'm sure I'm going to wait for for a few months, FTR] comes in). This week in the Deep Hurting Project will be Adam Sandler's minimum opus, Jack and Jill.

This old man needs his rest. Time for a late afternoon nap.  Goodnight

I wish I could sleep in the daytime.
Sometimes I try but nothing ever happens.

When you get older, you have little choice. Sometimes I conk out while I'm watching afternoon TV and wake up two or three hours later, wondering what happened.  Faints

black out blinds really help with that. Many years of third shift taught me that.

Spent a lot of today packing for the trip to Door County. Hopefully, my throat issues (which have been tested and aren't COVID) won't be too bad.

Two things that happened yesterday:
  • Finally decided to pay $1 per month to the Jim Can't Swim Patreon. Watched quite a few videos in the meantime, including the dissection of Alek Minassian's interrogation. Somehow I did not expect him to have a  voice like Christoph Waltz. It's kind of cathartic to imagine this incel mass murderer as being Hans Landa finally being given the sort of interrogative technique he subjected to so many.
  • We have this leaky pump downstairs so we called our usual plumbers, unfortunately they guys they sent were new. We also asked them to look at a pipe in the southwest corner in the house. They suggested we have it drain directly into the floor drain, and not only needed to be told which direction southwest was, it took them a few minutes to actually get there. They even knocked the penguin on the big TV in the basement off it. Well, at least they didn't do anything.

Tomorrow, I planned on going up to Door County for my annual two-week vacation. Unfortunately, I’ve had this throat ailment for the past five or so weeks. Not only has it not been getting better, but I’ve started to lose my voice. Dad just set up a doctor’s appointment. The earliest we’d be going up now is late Tuesday AT THE BARE MINIMUM. Well, given that there’s a pandemic, all the theaters are closed (except for the Skyway Drive-In) and most of the bookstores are working on reduced hours if they’re not closed entirely, so it’s not like there’s that much to cram in at this point.

In a sane world, by this point, I’d probably be setting up my laptop in my cottage in Door County an then collapsing on the bed. Unfortunately, because I’ve lost my voice and have otherwise been sick with a throat sickness that isn’t COVID (I had it tested a bit over a week ago, it came back negative), we’ve had to postpone it. Then again, a friend of Dad’s in Door County explained that the streets are congested and a shockingly large number of these people are hard-line anti-maskers. So I guess I dodged a bullet.

Just finished cutting out fabric for another dozen or so masks.

Since I was at the grocery store at 7 am and it's now 3 pm, I think I am going to just chill for a while. I've already put in a full day.
