Drinking cheap whiskey and pouring over springs numbers. Every year we have to decide whether we want to do this again, and whether or not I can keep making lightning strike in a bottle.

Magic spreadsheet says no. That we should ride this year out even if we want to do it again the year after. That there's no there, there, with these numbers, for me to exploit and game. We haven't even seen a proposal from an undergrad since last spring....and those kids will float wildly fanciful shit, in our experience.

The real difference between this year and every other, is that we just don't need it anymore. It's unclear that we would stand to gain if I went out there and spent money as opposed to just..IDK, sitting my chair gaming and shitposting for the next twelve months free of cost.

Juggling Amazon orders. I borrowed $250 from the bank. With that loan, I'll be able to order the last of the gifts for Christmas. I probably spent more on stocking stuffers than actual gifts this year.

On the plus side, I completed my order for a sous vide cooking container. They had Used-LikeNew Anova 12L containers for cheap -- $5 off the already 25% discounted Black Friday price.

Tonight I'm watching a 4K version of Lawrence of Arabia. In terms of times watched, it's my favourite film. Have managed to watch it at least once a year over the last 30 years. Not overly accurate historically, it's simply a masterpiece of a film in my opinion.

Gearing up for payroll day - the day when I have to pry information out of the managers so I can get people paid correctly and on time. WooHoo!

Doing my budget for December. I'm about $200 over, but I should have more than enough money from plasma to cover it.

Of course, dropping plans to buy myself a $150 bottle of scotch for Christmas would go a long way toward fixing that.

The Glenfiddich 21 year rum cask finish at $180 would do, but I'm on the lookout for Aberfeldy 18, which I can't find. On the other hand, the Dalmore King Alexander is legendary and only $280. And I've got a coupon.

ETA: Sadly the only Total Wine stocking the King Alexander is in Chanhassen. I'd have to bike or uber the last 6-7 miles. If the weather isn't bad, biking it would be okay.
