Weird thing, part of what Dad had to do to get Excel to work involved changing the PIN to my laptop. I can no longer use my PIN on my laptop, but at least I can use it if I have my password.

Watching football. I'm facing some new routing challenges with a network switch added to my LAN. I've never been good at the networking stuff, but I know one solution off the top of my head.

Watching for our annual ice storm.
It's currently 'freeze your face off' cold....rain, sleet, and general yuck on the way.
Sure glad my commute is walking from the living to my office at the other side of the stairs.

It's the same here. I was planning to go to Mom's for lunch, but had to cancel. This morning's weather report said there would be a mixed bag or rain and snow this afternoon. I don't relish the idea of driving home on slippery roads, especially when it's getting dark.

The Echo Show on my desk says it's -5 out now. Yet everybody is busy today. Nurse and homemaker coming at 11, and me donating plasma later.

It's a funny thing about moving south after living in the north/midwest. People assume we Yankees are born knowing how to drive in snow. And yes, we could do okay if there was the snow removal equipment and processes in place below the Mason-Dixon line. However, NOBODY wants to drive on ice. That distinction just isn't recognized in the less wintery weather areas of the country.

Lund's is having a BOGO sale on sushi. I probably shouldn't. I spent $10 at Jimmy John's that I didn't have yesterday, I would just be repeating the same mistake.

It's not a very safe assumption for northwesterners either - snow has been a historically uncommon enough event that a lot of municipalities don't have much de-icing or snow removal equipment so the only people out driving are the dumbfucks.

And rain is uncommon enough here in southern California that most people drive slow until they get used to it. The exception is asshats in raised 4WD trucks driving way over the speed limit in the rain. I'll never understand that.
