What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
Getting ready to go out and pick up my groceries and a prescription.

Getting ready for the Terv national. My wife is in charge of the tracking event. I'm headed back down to the basement to get tracking equiptment sorted and ready for travel.

Took a covid test and it was negative, but it's a different kind of test than the ones that I had been using, so I've got only modest confidence in the result. I'll retake the test tomorrow. And I was out of kleenex and cold medicine so I did an order pickup at Target. Given the arc of my symptoms, I should be well in 1-2 days.

You should stock up on toilet paper. I understand that’s what people do for a respiratory disease. Wink

I’ve thought about taking our cats to something like that, but it turns out that ‘Laying Round Doing Fuck All’ isn’t an event.

For the life of me, I will never understand hoarding toilet paper during the epidemic. The wife was looking at going into her quilting stash to make launderable wipes, there was so little toilet paper available. Interestingly, one son worked in the paint department of a big box store during those years and "never" caught it. I suspect that we may be asymptomatic? Except that the wife caught it on a quilting cruise. She was still positive when she got home, but none of the rest of us got sick with it.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

I amanaged to break the switch mechanism on my dive light, which is kind of a drag because I wanted to use it on Saturday. It's got a lifetime warranty but there's no chance of getting it fixed or replaced until we get back to the USA in the summer.

From what I understand about the issue, and I think most of what I know about the start of the panic came from an Internet Historian video, apparently, it started in Australia, where a non-negligible amount of TP is imported from China. Although, apparently, the majority is domestically-made, but that didn't stop people from panicking. After a while, the panic just became self-perpetuating.

And it didn't stop people from other nations where an even higher percent of TP is made domestically.

Keeping a cautious eye on the nasty weather heading our way. Hopefully it will not live up to the warnings.
