RE: What's everyone up to right now?

Just chillin'. Went to lunch for my birthday with my daughter and granddaughter today. Took a nice nap afterward. Got some things out to do some quilting tomorrow....granddaughter loves my quilts and I have a quilt top finished that needs to be completed. I think it might be her birthday gift so she has another one to take with her to college.
When we left for lunch, I pointed out a coffee table that has a top that will lift up to use as a table to eat on or use your laptop on it that was out on the curb in front of the neighbor's house for bulk pickup. I asked if granddaughter thought it might be useful in her dorm room. She jumped right out of the car to check it out and then played Tetris getting in the back of the car. It should be pretty handy as it also provides some storage space.

Aw geez. We haven't filled the pool this year because we need to have some repairs done. The dogs were outside peering into the spa part and pacing around so I went to see what was so fascinating. It was a mid-sized bunny...scared to death bouncing around and watching the teefs of death surrounding the only way out.
Okay not the only way out. That little shit jumped up and over the spillway into the pool. The dogs circled the pool till their tongues were hanging out and I was finally able to get them in one by one. Husband is on his way home from work to try to catch and release the bunny.
It's only 8am for Pete's sake.

Be glad it wasn't racoons. About a week ago a mother and 4-5 babies were in the 'nature' area of our back yard (drain field that is always wet). The dogs went nuts wanting to go out at 2AM. Thankfully we have that area blocked off with tall x-pens and the racoons jumped the fence to escape. In the morning I had to pick up the mom shit left behind.
Completely forgot about it until your post.

Installing a home weather station. I used a satellite TV antenna mounting arms with a 18 inch extension mounted near the top of the gable on the rake to hold the weather station so it sticks 4 feet above the ridge of the roof. I don;t have any ladders nearly tall enough to reach the spot from the ground, so I had to climb into the roof from a balcony and lie face down over the rake of the roof with my shoulder and chest over the edge to screw the antenna mount into the rake. The weather station has no moving parts and uses solar power so I should not have to get up there again anytime soon.

I set up the weather station’s output to control a number of devices at home through IFTTT. The attic fan turns on when it’s sunny and above 80 degrees outside, the whole house fan turns on for one hour at night in the summer when the outside temperature drops below 65, If the garage door is open then it will be close when wind exceeds 25 miles per hour. I also get an alert on a phone app when it rains to remind me to close any open windows.
But I do admit those are just excuses to justify the impulse discount purchase of what really is a toy. It is a cool design that uses sound of wind blowing through a Venturi to determine wind speed and wind direction, and haptic sensors to detect precipitation rather than a miniature rain bucket

Nowt wrong with toys. I was just wondering if maybe you were going to be part of a weather reporting network. I don’t know if it’s a thing in the US, but we have people with home weather stations all over the country who use their gear to collect and send data to MetService.
Yours sounds mad cool.
