I've been a member of this forum for a while, and while I'm not always around posting, I've seen various 'characters' come and go, and the staff has always been MORE THAN patient with some truly offending members. I have yet to see any mod/admin 'abuse' their authority, here.

Maybe not yet, but it is bound to happen eventually.

Anyway, in an effort to get this thread back on track and stuff:

So it hasn't happened yet- or at my most charitable, you can produce not a single incident of it- but you know it's going to happen, presumably because your nine days of time here has made you an expert not only on our rules and protocols, some of which you could not possibly know, but also on the people responsible for executing those rules, none of whom you know personally and at least one of whom you've never even spoken with? It's "bound to happen," is it? Is that based on anything at all, or is it just mindless scaremongering for no reason?

It drives me crazy to see people in no position to know impugning the character of people they've barely interacted with for no discernible reason, and it's always the ones with the least actual evidence or methods of obtaining it who're willing to step out and stir shit. They'll never have to sit in on the endless reports, having to wait out bad influences and dealing with the most inflammatory shit while still counseling restraint because no rules have been broken, but that won't stop 'em calling us all little abusers in waiting in spite of that. At no point will they get chewed out over PM by some new user because they repaired some code in one of their posts and the newbie leaped to the assumption that we'd censored them, without even looking at the post in question first, but the people who have are free game for some reason. What benefit do you actually get from casting aspersions like this on us?

You know what's worse? Unlike you, I actually can provide an example where someone on the moderation team abused their power. You know what fucking happened after that? We held an investigation, the guy realized his mistake and stepped down, apologizing to those involved. So you tell me again how my staff compadres are a hive of seething corruption with no accountability, hmm? When the only incident of abuse of power in the years I've been here ended with the perpetrator losing his status voluntarily, when every single time one of us is personally involved in mod action we step down of our own accord, you go ahead and let me know how "bound to happen," all that is. I'm sure the week you've been here has more than equipped you to knowledgeably discuss the years of work that's gone into this board.
