We have fun in Slack. We share tacos.
Yeah. With darwinbot.
Sitting at the salon. Took me two hours to do my daughter's hair. She was very happy. I was too. Going to the school later to take more pics.

Taking a short break from alternating between playing with the dogs and learning Hangul. There's nothing like learning your 'ABCs' at 50 to instill a bit of humility.
I hope to take my wife to Seoul in a few years and want to achieve something like basic conversational ease and reading comprehension (I won't dignify it with the word 'fluency', which I'm sure I'll never attain) -- just enough to get around and communicate effectively without making a complete Ugly American ass of myself. I'm having a little trouble distinguishing a few of the noun sounds. There are subtle differences that I'm not quite catching. Fortunately, I have a few Korean neighbors on whom I might occasionally impose to help me out with that.

Watching a fight break out on FB over the recent NWSL women's soccer final.

Sunday morning. Manila. Off to our favourite cafe for breakfast, which will be empty as everyone else will be at church

Band practice this morning, then a quick stop at the dentist to adjust a filling I got last week.
Went out in the garden and started raking leaves, deadheading various plants, and clearing out the raised bed where I grew tomatoes this summer. Got 4 large bags full of garden waste to drop off at the composting depot tomorrow. Lots still to do before first snow, including cutting down the raspberry canes and bringing in the dahlia bulbs and the begonias.
Also harvested some Greek oregano from the garden and dried and bottled the leaves. (Microwave herb drying FTW! Put a paper towel on a plate, put a shallow layer of leaves on top of the paper towel, put a second paper towel on top, microwave for 90 seconds or so, crumble dried leaves.) Harvested a bunch of seeds as well, and I may try doing something medicinal with them rather than just grinding them and tossing them in the spice bottle.
I think it's time to jump in the car and go to the bookstore for a coffee.

Just got back from the fall fair. It was a lot of fun--a bit expensive, but it's only once a year! My daughters really enjoyed it, and honestly so did I. We watched their fireworks from our porch last night. (They practically put them off in our backyard)

I'll ask my daughter how she did it. She taught herself to read and write Hangul in a matter of weeks. I even know how to spell my name now:
주디

Ah, your name is Judy. (Edited because I initially read ㅜ as if it was ㅗ and came up with 'Jodie'. Apparently, I have some ways to go. Lol)
Hangul and the way syllables are formed is quite rational once you get the hang of the sounds. I "know" about twenty letters so far -- at least to the extent that I can look at a word composed of just them and sound it out more or less correctly (assuming I don't misread a character, as above). Again, a couple of the vowels I've learned are still tricky for me and the websites I've looked at just confuse me more (and the Romanization of Korean is a damn nightmare). I'm never quite sure if I'm pronouncing 어 correctly.

Close. Replace the "y" with an "i"
Also - You may already know this but the letter O in Hangul is a place holder. I'll have to get specifics from my girl on Wednesday, but if you need help, I can always ask her.
