I treasured my days off, when I had a job. Believe it or not, being retired, I get more crappy work around the house that I put off until then. Fortunately, I have two sons still living at home to enslave into doing the heavy lifting.

Definitely treasuring them. I like my job, but it's soooo nice to not have to set the alarm and be on someone's watch, you know?

Just finished binging "Altered Carbon" on Netflix. Not too bad a show and a pretty decent adaptation from the novel by Richard K. Morgan.

Got KG home from the hospital. 6+ hours for a 165 mile drive including a stop at the pharmacy. She's in rough shape and has a veey rough road ahead.

Writer's group this evening, then a bit of grocery shopping, then I tried out a bread recipe (bread stuffed with pesto, sun-dried tomatoes, and shredded Italian-mix cheese).

Because I had to wait for the bread to rise and then bake it, I sat at the dining room table and read a whole bunch of essays from my Royal Astronomical Society of Canada 2018 Observer's Handbook.  I figured that at 10:00 in the evening, reading about atmospheric conditions for good seeing, the best dates to observe Mars this year, and how to polar-align a telescope was preferable to reading the next chapter in Naked Lunch.

Crazy, I know. When we werent doing 70-80 we were barely moving. I have to work tomorrow but I have a three day weekend so I'll care for her and rest in between. I have a hard time staying still though. Nonetheless I think we'll manage. Thanks so much for the kind words.

And update on my USPS situation: the tracking service has finally resumed. As I write this, it’s in a facility in Lombard. The day prior, it was in Glendale Heights. The day prior, it was in York, Pennsylvania. And about a week before that, it was in Waukegan. Bear in mind, I live in Skokie, IL. I can see no reason for it to go from Waukegan, then Pennsylvania, and then back to DuPage county, before it finally comes to me.

Also, since I was locked out mid-edit, the real lowballed size of my cigar box kalimba is about 8x5.5x2.5”

Your box was literally less than ten miles from me. 😹
