Waiting for my heart rate to return to normal.
It took a minute to realize it's the first Wednesday of the month and they are testing the tornado sirens...it's not an air raid alert.

Went on my first solo drive since March 13 to go to Half Price Books.
Books:
- What the Hell Did I Just Read? By David Wong, the latest chapter in the John Dies at the End trilogy. That said, I think it will have to wait until I reread the first two books, since it’s been years.
- Room by Emma Donoghue.
- The Dream of the Red Chamber (abridged translation by Florence and Isabel McHugh.
DVDs:
- Drag me to Hell. Somehow I did not own a copy until today and now I’m watching it with my Alison Lohman body pillow.
- Talk Radio. The story of a talk radio DJ who manages to piss off Nazis and pays dearly. And somehow, if there’s an element that makes this film not so relevant, it’s the fact that talk radio is dying, and not the whole “Nazis being powerful enough to sustain a harassment campaign against and kill a random DJ” thing.
- Also, the Blu-ray of Inglourious Basterds.

I'm considering whether or not I want to purchase 80 acres of high desert in wyoming for the price of a used car in kentucky.
..also, putting together a drip irrigation system in the pouring rain...which suddenly strikes me as a thoroughly unsatisfying way to spend my morning.

In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. Turn it green.
The property gets 9 inches of rainfall a year, on average, and 37 inches of snowfall. The deficit is within a few feet of 52 inches all things considered - which I can resolve. The trouble is that there's an extra hundred miles or more between the property and the models target market.
-and that while I can secure access to the land for the price of a used car, the infrastructure would cost me about as much as liquidating my current assets, plus a small loan, could achieve.

Nice what are you planning on growing? Or do you just have some Muah'dib fantasy of reforesting the desert.

Watching the last season of 13 Reasons Why. And surprisingly, it's ending up less of a dumpster fire than the previous two. In the first two episodes so far, the only major missteps are the continued presence of Ani and the scene where Jessica is threatened with a strip search by a male security guard, which is not only unethical but largely illegal except maybe in certain circumstances where no female officers are around. Seriously, Dragnet pointed out that this is the standard operating procedure for cops to frisk women OVER HALF A CENTURY AGO and in a series whose politics are far more conservative. Is there something I'm missing? Of course, they have another eight episodes, so I'm sure they have enough space to fuck it up again. At least they're acknowledging that Clay has serious mental problems.
