What's everyone up to right now?

My temperature has been fluctuating, but seems to have stabilized to the mid-99s. Normally, I take a dump in the morning, but this time, I was unable to do so until after noon. My appetite has been depleted. The only things I’ve eaten all day are a bowl of instant mash (prepared with a mixture of water and pedialyte for the just add water phase), four strips of bacon, a peanut butter bagel, and about four glasses of milk (because, as it turns out, it’s actually one of the best things to rehydrate barring things like Pedialyte.) Trying to masturbate has bizarrely become an ordeal, taking roughly an hour. I have spent most of today lying on my back (sometimes sleeping, sometimes trying to dull the body pain) because I only got about five hours of sleep last night. The doctor has finally gotten back to me and suggests a CT scan of my sinus (even though it’s one of the few places that isn’t hurting now) and a chest x-ray. He says the hospital should call back, but they haven’t because insurance won’t actually cover medical procedures that could help treat me and see if I have a potentially deadly virus because that would make too much sense. On the bright side, I’ve managed to write 3000 words on Ken Branagh’s Hamlet for my thousandth column on Anglotopia.
You don't have to masturbate when you don't feel well, you know. :-)

Doctor #1: ‘You need back surgery.’

Doctor #2: ‘You don’t need back surgery.’

Doctor #3: ‘The chance that back surgery would help isn’t worth considering. You’re extremely unlikely to get any worse. In fact, the surgery is likely to do you more harm than good.’

You need cardiac surgery to fix your back.

Slightly better, but that doesn’t mean much. I’m currently working with the doctors to get a COVID test ready, because the hospital is requiring one before I have the test that the doctors are asking me to take. And somehow, this simple concept needed to be explained repeatedly when we tried to have the doctor schedule one.

I’m scheduled for a CVS test at 3 tomorrow.

Good news: The CVS COVID test should be a lot less invasive than my last one. Also, I finally got the glider capos I ordered from China a bit less than three months ago.

Bad news: There's a distinct possibility that the results of said test won't come back for over a week. Also, the capos (whether it's the too-tight spring or the ridiculously concave neck roller) are virtually unworkable with my main cigar box guitar.

On the other hand, I think I'm starting to improve physically. Key word, of course, being think.

Sort of celebrating the fact that I have gained 1.4 pounds in the last three days for a total of 3.4 pounds over the last week.

I have lost a LOT of weight unintentionally lately, as well as having other symptoms that were beginning to look like the signs of something pretty ominous.

Found a new doctor who isn't an idiot and since the first of the month have been through a battery of tests and found out I am severely anemic and low on Vitamins D and B-12. Supplements and injections were started on the 17th and the weight loss has stopped, other symptoms have stopped...and I am now not quite so concerned about what other tests may reveal.
