Finally moving out of our temporary place back into our apartment. Construction is finally complete.

Well, what went down yesterday: despite being late due to writing the wrong address in Waze, the second dose of Moderna. I wore my North Mississippi Allstars shirt (the same one I wore last time) in the hopes that this might help with distracting conversation like it did the last time. This time?
“Why are you so tense?”
“Because I’m afraid of needles.”
“Why?”
“Because they’re painful”
“And we’re done.”

And with that, I was fully vaccinated. Of course, I accidentally killed the pocket watch I got a few weeks ago by dropping it on the cafeteria floor where I was doing my 15 minute wait, thus making the hands wonky, eventually making it stop altogether. And I managed to cut off a giant skin tag that’s been with me for years. (The secret? Lots of twisting, lots of time, a pocketknife, and figuring out the right place to cut. And no blood, oddly enough.)

And I’ve spent much of this afternoon completing as much of the KeaHeaLele as I can without installing the neck (currently drying it’s clear coat) or the bridge template (which hinges on the position of the neck). Also, the sixpence corners aren’t installed yet, partially because they’d also interfere with the bridge template, and partly because I may not have the right nails to attach them. Scratch that, while writing this sentence, Dad found some brads that seem perfect.

So, I’ve installed the strap buttons (and strap), the output Jack and its plate (but not the pickup, since that’s meant to be below the bridge, which still needs to be installed), and the hinges (with eye-loop hooks, since the hooks that came with it sat too proud.)







(Fucking Hell, is it hard to do justice to the colours of the blood-red top with an iPhone camera. Especially when the sun shines on it.)
