Just finished work today and since I took tomorrow and Monday off I am hoping to just relax...after going to the flagline recital tonight, of course.

Nico post toe amputation surgery second day. We're still keeping him stoned. Green wrap is the amputation foot, blue is the port (pain meds/blood draw), can't see the shaved fentanyl patch site. Goes in every other day for dressing change and eval, at least until the path comes back. There's a concern about squamous cell.

And of course we had rain and snow, have to bag the foot every time he goes out.

Poor baby, hope he feels better soon (though he doesn't look like he's feeling any pain in this picture).  Also hope this is the end of needed treatment.

I hit a land mine today. The nurse and I were having a pleasant conversation about inflation and suddenly the conversation turned to socialism, the Davos Group, and the New World Order. I didn't see that coming.

Had a pretty full day, looking for some wood for my Richardsnary 12-string project. And I've ended up settling on a nice piece of ash. White ash, that is.


(And if you look closely, you might actually see the lines where I’m planning on cutting. It’s shaped in much the same way as one of Bo Diddley’s rectangular guitars, but, of course, none of the Rickenbacker trappings have arrived yet).

Spent much of the evening trying to make measurements to get that block down to the right size and finally getting around to buying the other parts. Now everything but the paints and plastic for the truss rod cover/pickguard have been Amazon Primed.

Also managed to find the time to check out the new chapter of Joe vs. Elan School. And it's a fucking weird one. Starting with an encounter with a fellow drug dealer that turns psychic, and after a brief interlude about how difficult the proficiency exam for a music degree is, he goes to Denver on a whim and has a very strange incident where he's meeting with a bunch of other Elan survivors, they all take shrooms (I don't know if they're wet or dry, but I know he brought an ounce and there's six people at the get-together, and this is either a small dose or a bit shy of a heroic dose), and he has a severe freakout that I can only describe in the terms of the music that went through my head as I read it:

And to think that the last chapter was actually somewhat wholesome (new doubts about Gino's allegiance aside) with him managing to take over his anti-drug meetings and actually bringing sources to counteract the Reagan-era propaganda they were going to be spoonfed.
