Decided to test how loud my new Vox MV50 can get. Using my iPhone’s Decibel X app, I found that from one meter away (the standard distance used for measuring the loudness of speakers), it can get as loud as 108.7 dB. Calculating back from SPL, it looks like the Vox BC108 cabinet it came with has a speaker sensitivity of about 94.7 dB/watt/meter. A bit higher than I expected, but not by that much.

And for the record, this is the amp in question.



The amp and head are about 14” tall combined, and it can still put out that much volume. Still think you need a huge Marshall stack to be loud enough for the stage?

I dropped off an Amazon return at a UPS store on Friday. In six days, it hadn't moved. So I chatted up Amazon to get some movement on it. Surprisingly, they offered to go ahead and refund the return even though they haven't received it. I thought great. Now, though, it's not showing the item as being returned on the order page. I hope that doesn't mean anything, but this is not reassuring. I guess I'll know in a few days if I receive a refund in my bank account.

Watching a biopic about Emily Dickenson

Baseball. Just saw a wild call. Fly ball to the outfield. Urshela advances from second to third and comes close to or actually touches third base. The outfielder catches the ball, and Urshela scampers back to second base. They called him out for not retouching third base on his way back to second. I see why it was called the way it was, but it was a bit dumbfounding. When Urshela touched third base with his right foot, his left foot came down on the home plate side of third base. So, while he didn't intentionally "round" third base, because of where that second foot landed, technically he did, and so technically he was obligated to touch third base again before retreating to second.

Well, this isn’t now, but a few hours ago, I was eating dinner and heard some noise coming from a few doors down. Apparently, a family from the end of the block is having a birthday, and from what little I was able to see, I think the kid wanted their gift to have Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash breed and for their offspring to do the Cha Cha Slide.
