Awoke before dawn today to a fire in the lot behind our house.  Spent the wee hours of the morning  holding it back with a garden hose while we waited for firefighters to arrive.

Hours? Get a better fire company.

Mulching the fall leaves. No raking, no bags, just run the mower over them, set in "mulch" mode. One of jobs at Purdue was to mow a test patch of grass in a dozen locations. Mulching was one of the things they tested for. Nutrient return was very good.

Got the gift cards and Christmas cards at Target tonight. It came to about $300 or $100 each. Now I just need to buy individual boxes and bags for each and a candy or something for each.

Yay for 3-packs of cards. Because I used my Target credit card, I got 5% off the bulk of them.

Yesterday the wife said 'let's make our own christmas cookies this year'. I've been making cookies for the last 6 hours, she has been supervising.

"Wee hours" was a bit of verbal hyperbole. They were here inside of 15 minutes, but it took some time to get water on the fire as it was at the base of a high stone wall and could only be accessed from above.

Awake at 2:30 in the morning and finding out how many body parts can hurt following an RSV vaccine.  I was warned...still not as bad as the second Shingles shot but not pleasant either.

That second Shingles shot was the single worst immunization I can remember. Muscles and joints aching, all over, for an entire day.

I'm sure I am older than you are and my health isn't the greatest....the second shingles shot kicked my ass for the better part of a week.  I was wondering if death was not an option and swore if they ever decide I have to have another one, they can kiss my scrawny ass.
