Working on a new setup. The system completes POST and I get video out from an add-in card. I tried two other cards first. Not sure why those didn't work. Glad I had the third card.

Getting ready to make a new sand casting flask. My last one leaked molten bronze and burned the flask to cinders. Kinda pretty while it was happening, though.

Mets and Dodgers. Apparently, it's Jackie Robinson Day. That's nice. They say Ohtani has seven pitches. If true, that's insane.

Morning routine. I started my coffee journey last year with an appreciation for Starbuck's Verona dark roast, despite having been a light roast person for many years. Recently I've switched to Tim Horton Dark Roast. I didn't like it when I first tried it, but it's pleasant, inoffensive, and just interesting enough not to be underwhelming. And it's reasonably priced, which is always important.

Signing up for Protonmail. I need another email address. Their lowest-tier paid plan is only $4 a month, but it's billed annually. That's a shame. Free it is!

My new router is due tomorrow. In hindsight, it was a bit silly of a purchase, but it will be a little more secure than my current, conceivably allows replacing a hardwired connection or two with Wifi, and is the more modern Wifi 6 as opposed to Wifi 5 and so supports 160 Mhz mode. Plus it was a great deal at $40. It's not the Asus AX58U that I should have bought, even though it was much more expensive, but it will do for a few years during the shakeup in the router market.
ETA: It's actually out for delivery today. In hindsight, maybe it was a good choice. I though the AX58U was Wifi 6E, but it's only Wifi 6 and has lower throughput. The AX58U still has advantages, just not enough to justify the cost difference. ![]()
Setting up the new router. What a pain. It took forever. And now I need to reset each device. This is worse than daylight savings time. The only negative so far is the VPN setup isn't as flexible as on the Asus. I can always use the Asus for a separate VPN only network if I ever get off my butt. I had planned to do so in order to watch MLB.TV directly on my TV, but it was always easier just to use Chromecast. It still is, probably. The only drawback is the cast video needs upscaling on the TV whereas direct access would be full definition.

It may just be my imagination, but I swear my internet is snappier now.

Amazon's website has issues. Thank goodness for a redundant world.

Watching episodes of The Closer. My computer projects are mostly in a holding pattern until mid-May. I'm focusing on organizing files atm. I need something beyond video games to occupy me until then.
