Wrestling with Windows. The Display Properties dialog wouldn't launch. So I set down the rabbit hole of uninstalling my graphics drivers. I eventually figured out that the XML data for the Windows Settings app / dialog was corrupt. It's fixed now, I just need to reinstall my graphics drivers. I'm currently in safe mode waiting for Firefox to automatically save my session tabs. It's on a 10-minute timer.

I've spent the entire day fixing my computer. The initial symptom was that Settings would freeze when I tried to open Display Properties. I spent a few hours trying to fix that with ChatGPT's help. Things went from bad to worse. So I restored the system from a backup made Saturday morning. That took about 90 minutes. I ended up doing a repair install, effectively an upgrade-in-place, using Windows settings recovery menu. That fixed the problem, but some things got disturbed in the process. It was using up all my resources trying to index the documents folder and download folder. I got that stopped and now I'm backing up the system with Acronis. I don't want to mess with it until it has finished backing up the system.
