Yeah. Many theists only hear what they want to hear. But when they write the script the words that come out of the atheist's mouth will really be what they thought they heard.

I'll put on my Prophet hat for a minute and state that the professor character will not be able to refute any of the simplistic, fallacious arguments the student will use.

I was thinking this to myself as I watched the video. I will bet my left testicle that the movie is chock full of appeals to emotion, and I would be willing to endure the film to see it were it not for the fact that Christians are the worst film-makers. Their movies are always so sterile and drab that you fear your large intestine is going to reach up and strangle you to stop the pain(R.I.P. Mr. Adams).

I throw up a little in my mouth every time I see the stereotypical atheist character written from the Christian point of view. It says more about the Christian mindset than the atheist one.

Ya'll must admit you're curious.

While I generally find didactic films boring, I recall watching and enjoying "The Last Temptation of Christ" and "Crimes and Misdemeanors" , among others.

Not in the least.

I'd skip to 4:30 though

If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

Perhaps you mean Christian films, since many good films are produced by Christians without containing a specific Christian message.

Or any stereotype character. The evil villain with a British accent, the greedy land developer, the hooker with a heart of gold, the repressive religious father, or ...Ben Stiller.

I stay away from cinematic bull crap if I can help it, but please feel free to give us a full film review after viewing it.

Correct. Christians can make good films, too, just not when spreading an overtly Christian message. It's like Christianity sucks the creativity out of everything. Wink

Yes, stereotypical characters suck, but the stereotypical atheist is one that is particularly painful and frustrating. They're always angry, use extremely fallacious arguments, never know anything about religion and they act and speak, not as an atheist, but as someone who believes god exists and is angry at them. Imagine how you would feel if I were to write a Christian character that was only capable of saying, "Derp."
