But what the people are writing about her and her family is far worse and needs to be spoken out against

This woman wrote a bad comment on facebook and suddenly hundreds of people are bashing her and her family with all sorts of insults... It's disgusting.
Freedom of speech
I agree with their freedom to insult her but it is still a disgrace, they could debate her intellectually instead of resorting to Jerry Springer drama.
If it is not inciting violence and simple trash talk, that is part of living in a free society. You can only control what you type and submit, but you have no right to control others. If you own a page or a board, then, and only then can you control the content.
Calls to violence are against the law, simply cussing someone out is not. I'd say if you don't like it, don't participate in it, but don't project your comfort level on everyone else as if it is law.
You see how people trash ABBA and the Redskins here. I have a thick skin. And when I was a kid and teen, I was thin skinned and all that did was make me a doormat. If someone gets in my face, I have a choice. I can duke it out with them, or chose to not converse with them. What I cannot do is control them.
I know what it is like to be sensitive, but that does not give me the right to be free from being offended.
