Where is heaven located now?

RE: Where is heaven located now?
So basically what you're saying, Drich, is that somehow these ancient men who were little smarter than cave men found out how to make bricks out of some material which would stand up to the incredible weight of 30 stories of other bricks on top of them without collapsing?

And do you have any archaeological evidence to support this assertion?

What is wrong with "poof" for an answer? You want some meat on those bones? That is asking a bit much isn't it?

I know, I'm just being irrational because I don't believe it based on no evidence.

The great Ziggurat of Babylon, which served as the model for this particular bullshit story was made of mud brick baked in the sun. It was restored by Nabonidus of Babylon at the time when the whole "Exile to Babylon" shit was going on. It probably would have made one hell of an impression on rustic Judahite war captives who still had sheep shit between their toes!

How the hell do you think they make bricks? You take some clay, shape it into the shape you want, then bake it to harden it.

I hate this "that bible passage doesn't mean what it means" crap that Christians love to throw around.

If you take Clay and bake made baked clay aka ceramics. not bricks (nothing that will support any type of structure.)

Clay is nothing more than a media or filler. in order for a brick to be structurally sound there needs to be a binding agent in the presents of a compatiable reinforcing agent with in the brick itself, and a way to set it/cure it.

Which means there are potentially 1000's of possiable combinations of materials coming together under the same descriptive term, "Brick." ever been to home depot? do they sell just one kind of brick? is a brick you can use to trim out your garden the same brick used to support the foundation of a house?

This isn't about chopping the meaning of the bible's content up. This is just basic building material knowledge. Which is what is need to limit how tall one can estimate a structure to be.

If a building material content is unknown then it is unknown, and no one can truly limit what can and can not be done. If one insists then that insistence can be accurately identified as faith.

I cannot believe we are discussing bricks, but:

They needs a huge quantity of bricks.
It is unlikely they imported them for the job (transport back then - don't talk about it).
Therefore they baked bricks using clay and a locally available material (probably straw).
As far as I know there is no naturally occurring material in the area that has not been tried and tested.

Therefore, it is fairly safe to assume that they did not have special bricks.

Even if they did there remains the issues of thickness of the wall at the bottom and the support for the structure.

The great Pyramid was the tallest structure on earth for 4,500 years. The Egyptians knew how to build them (by failing many times - see the bent pyramid).

The probability that these builders could get anywhere near Egyptian heights is tiny - let alone above that.

According to all these Christians here on the site lately, I should believe in everything unless I can 100% prove it false.

Now if you excuse me, there's an email from a Nigerian prince I have to answer.

That is the basic position they are forced into, D/T. It is the natural result of professing belief in bullshit.

Funny how it only applies to us and our lack of belief in God, but doesn't seem to apply to them and other gods.

Indeed, the Bible seems to care little for factual information.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
